Dr. Sarwar M. Azhar is a Professor of Marketing and Strategy Minhaj University Lahore and has over 35 years of combined experience as a practising business manager and as an academician in the field of management and marketing. He did his MBA from IBA Karachi (1981) and soon thereafter started his family business in 1983, and went into a joint venture with an Austrian Corporation in 1995. He had also launched Pak American Institute of Management Sciences (Pak Aims) in 1985, a higher educational institute offering graduate and post graduate degrees in Management and Computer Sciences. He left to do his PhD at Nottingham University Business School, Nottingham UK in 1999. During his PhD he was not only teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Marketing Strategy and International Business both in UK as well as in Malaysia (UNIM) but was also managing a hotel in Birmingham UK thus continuing to gain not only academic knowledge but also practical work experience in culturally diverse environment. Since his return from his PhD in 2006, he has been fully engaged in teaching and has been associated with many universities in Pakistan including being Dean and Pro Vice Chancellor while continuing to teach at different levels especially at the PhD and post graduate levels. He has successfully given training and consultation to businesses in Product Development, Branding and Strategic Management. In the field of Strategic Management and Marketing he gained new insights that he has now incorporated in his trainings and teaching focusing on disruptive strategies and business model innovation, while working with Harvard Business School as part of diploma courses. He has published over 30 research papers and case studies in both national and international journals and is currently reviewer for number of international research journals impacting business knowledge in the country and abroad. He has also successfully supervised six PhDs and over 46 MS students which has enabled him to gain deep insights into the workings of local industries and business management. He is currently engaged in four government funded research projects, covering different human endeavors and their impact on society.
