The Corpus Research Center at Minhaj University Lahore recently hosted a workshop on the topic of "Meta Pak" for MPhil and PhD scholars from the Department of English. The workshop featured Dr. Akhtar Abbas, Head of the English Department at the University of Sialkot, as the guest speaker. Dr. Abbas detailed the objectives and importance of "Meta Pak," explaining that it is a valuable and powerful corpus analysis tool specifically designed for metadiscourse analysis. He emphasized its significance for researchers and academics studying metadiscourse, highlighting that it opens new avenues in research and education based on Hyland's interactive and interactional metadiscourse categories.
Dr. Zafar Iqbal Bhatti, Director of the Corpus Research Center at Minhaj University, addressed the students, stating that the purpose of organizing such workshops is to inform students about modern research topics and enhance their professional skills. These workshops provide students with the latest information on various subjects and practical training, enabling them to succeed in their respective fields. The workshop included practical exercises allowing students to understand and work on different aspects of Meta Pak. Additionally, during the Q&A session, students asked Dr. Akhtar Abbas various questions related to "Meta Pak" and received valuable answers.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Zafar Iqbal Bhatti presented a souvenir to Dr. Akhtar Abbas. The workshop saw participation from several MPhil and PhD scholars from the English Department, including Amara Maqsood Qadri, Sana Nazir, and Fatima Zahra.
