  • Advise on academic matters
  • Regulate the conduct of teaching, research and publication
  • Regulate the admission of students to the courses of studies and examinations in the University
  • Supervise the conduct and discipline of the students of the University
  • Propose and scheme for the constitution and organization of Faculties and teaching departments
  • Consider or formulate proposals for the planning and development of teaching and research in the University
  • Prescribe the courses of studies, the syllabi and the outlines of tests for all University examinations
  • Direct the award of studentships, scholarships, exhibitions, medals and prizes
  • Appoint or nominate members to the various Authorities in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
