Objectives of Curriculum of History for BS (Hons.)

  1. To inculcate historical consciousness about the human past and evolutionary process that mankind underwent through ages.
  2. To install analytical and interpretative approach towards historical facts.
  3. To equip the youngsters with the skills to construct a historical discussion promoting universal human values.
  4. To locate the role of the masses in the course of history, i.e. role of women, labour forces etc. featuring prominently in its overall scope.
  5. To develop among the students a holistic historic vision of Pakistan‘s History.
  6. To acquaint the students with main political events, movements and issues.
  7. To acquaint the students with the Islamic heritage of Pakistan.
  8. To acquaint the students with the major ancient civilizations, with emphasis on those areas which now comprising Pakistan.
  9. To develop awareness among the students about the intellectual heritage of the Muslims in South Asia.
  10. To equip students with the political, constitutional and historical developments in Pakistan after 1947.

M.A History

The study of the discipline of History is vital for the students in order to create a sense of responsibility amongst them. It enables them to gain knowledge about their rights and duties, forms of government, types of constitution etc. it is also significant to make them politically conscious so as to know what is going on at the local, national and international levels. The present age of science and advanced technology has further enhanced the importance of the discipline as the impact of one state has deep bearing on the comity of nations. The students, who intend to have a bright future, will never miss to study this subject as it facilitates to qualify the competitive examinations, such as CSS or PMS.

M. Phil History

The M. Phil History is two years scheme. During the first year, course work comprises of two semesters. The students have to study the papers mentioned below. 75% attendance is compulsory. On completion of 2 Semesters a comprehensive examination will be held. After successfully completing andsqualifying the examination, the students have to write a thesis in the second year.

Objectives:

The two-year M. Phil programme is designed to introduce the students to an advanced level of post graduate studies in the discipline of History. The programme would also aim at training the students for research and teaching in History at post-graduate level in the academic and research institutions of the country Eligibility: M.A / M.Sc Second class or 2.50 GPA (Out of 4:00) in History, Pakistan Studies.
